Why do frogs say 'rabbit' but rabbits don't say 'frog'?
I promised you there would be frogs so here they are. And they brought friends!
Like I predicted, I got really invested in Croakoloco. Like really really invested.
I took that as a sign to gather my other creature collecting games (that aren’t creature battlers, we already did those) and share them with you. You know, because you, too, deserve all this CUTENESS in your life.
I would ask if you are ready for this but I just know you aren’t ready for this.
Croakoloco
Croakoloco is my newest fascination!
You collect and nurture different frog species, buy frog packs from the shop, and unlock new, increasingly rare frogs. Most of the time, you just sit back and watch them hop around, croak, and munch on flies. If you want to be more hands-on, "Froggy Mode" lets you take control of a frog yourself, jumping, croaking, and hunting special flies to earn coins and XP. As your frogs grow, they gain random perks that can tweak gameplay, like making flies more valuable or increasing your odds of finding rare frogs.
I played the demo and loved it, so when Croakoloco was released, it was an instant buy for me. It could use some QoL updates (an autofeeder would be great, maybe a tutorial that explains about locking frogs, too), but overall, this game is right up my alley.
Relaxing game that will have you croak with delight - unless you're a fly, then you're gonna have a bad time.
Basically, Croakoloco is shaping up to be exactly what Chillquarium was for me when I first played and, well, hyperfixated on it. An amazing collection game that is the right amount of grind, with the most adorable rewards.
👍 Enthusiastically recommended!
Chillquarium
I already talked about Chillquarium in my Steam Idler Fest blog post, so I’m going to keep this one short, and just say: OH MY GOD FISHIES.
I love Chillquarium so much, it’s one of those games you revisit every once in a while to derp around for a few minutes, OR you play for seven hours on end, no in-between.
Chill, cosy, relaxing, addictive, and perfect for anyone who loves chill idle games. And fishies. Love all the fishies.
👍 Still recommending this with all my heart.
Bunny Park
Bunny Park (not to be confused with Bunny Parking, which is a very different experience involving far fewer rabbits and far more swearing) is a cute and casual simulation game where you manage a little rabbit-filled park.
Your goal is to attract different bunny species by creating the perfect environment for them. You’ll clean up grass, logs and rocks, plant flowers, bushes and trees, build attractions, and, of course, care for your fluffy residents. You’ll plant a little garden patch that grows carrots, lettuce, and other snacks your floofs will go crazy for.
As you progress, you’ll unlock new bunnies, decorations, and other upgrades to make your park the most adorable one in the world. It's all about relaxing, growing, and watching the bunnies hop around in their cosy little paradise.
It takes some decorating and setting up initially, but after a while with the addition of bots (in the shape of adorable butterflies), you can automate the game a little and get some help cleaning up the debris as well as collecting the coins and even petting the rabbits (pfsh, as if you need someone else to do that for you, right?!) to turn it into somewhat of an idle game.
Anyone who knows me just a little does NOT have to ask how I feel about this game. It is cute, adorable, cosy AND IT HAS RABBITS.
👍 Rabbits.
Cheeky Chooks
Cheeky Chooks is a light-hearted chicken sanctuary simulator where you manage a flock of very cheeky chooks. Your goal is to hatch, house, and care for your growing collection of feathered friends while keeping them happy, fed, and properly housed. You’ll build coops, provide snacks, decorate your farm and make sure your chickens have everything they need to live their best clucky lives. Happy chooks lay eggs, eggs get sold for money, money buys you news eggs which bring you new chooks.
Every once in a while, there’s a special event, like a pumpkin clicker mini-game. That’s fun! The chooks help out pecking at the pumpkins, and you get a bit of extra spending money which you of course immediately spend on more decorations, right?
Watching your chickens wander around doing their thing, building your farm, and maybe getting a little distracted by how ridiculous your chickens can look at times, all of it is super cosy and relaxing.
👍 Clucking recommended!
Monster Care Simulator
Monster Care Simulator is a wholesome management sim where you run a sanctuary for adorable little monsters.
Your job is to nurture and rehabilitate adorable little monstrous beasties by healing them from various injuries they might come in with. Each injury type has its own tools, which the game gradually builds up so nothing is too overwhelming. Just a very relaxed, cosy loop of taking in new patients, treating them, putting them outside in your yard to play, returning them to their owners, rinse and repeat.
It’s practically “Pokémon Centre, the game”, but without being a rip-off of Pokémon at all, which is an amazing feat on its own.
This is one of those rare games that take a concept and deliver it perfectly.
Monster Care Simulator just came out, so it’s a brand new game with a bright future of added updates ahead of it, and it’s very affordable, too.
👍 Monstrously recommended!
