Catching up on some demos!
A bunch of quick demo reviews to make some space on my to-do list.
I have committed to SO many demos, I have a couple dozens of them just waiting for me to try them out. As demos go, they are often short and, well, potentially very unpolished/unfinished, so they don’t always warrant very in-depth full reviews, and so I have been putting them off.
Not anymore. *dramatic dun dun duuuun*
This week, I’ll be playing through them, and I’ll share the ones I liked with you, without too much ado.
Catio Simulator
A terrarium game where you decorate a patio to attract cats, pet them, adopt them out and get paid to do so. Cosy incremental clicker gameplay with cats!
Gemporium: A Cute Mining Sim
Incredibly addictive game where you dig up gems, clean them and sell them in your little gem shop. Also: artefacts to collect and upgrades to unlock.
Now THAT’s a Big Dragon!
An idler game that neatly bridges the gap between clicker and incremental. Glorious in its simplicity: slay the dragon, it has a million HP. Good luck.
THORNSPELL
Oh yes, another roguelike deckbuilder that I love! Interesting plant effects and gorgeous enemy design with a good loop makes me not want to stop.
Rutrum
Straight to my heart this one goes. gems, “dropping things in and seeing what happens”, roguelike powerups, good soundtrack, creepycute designs.
Dragon Dinner
Cosy restaurant sim with all the necessary mechanics game like this needs, but with bonus ADORABLE LITTLE DRAGONS.
Knick Knack Stack
On top of the super catchy title, it’s an even catchier game. Stacking random objects in iconic places all over the world, in a gorgeous pixel style.
Papaya Plaza
A cute and cosy city builder / management game that looks like colony sim but isn’t one. Reminiscent of Littlewood in terms of city building.
Slimies
A novel take on the bullet heaven / bullet hell genre. You play as a slime gobbling up enemies (and dodging their attacks when you’re too full to gobble) that evolves throughout the run.
Tribe Quest
I never imagined a roguelike survivalcraft could work, but Tribe Quest pulls it off splendidly. And with graphics that make my brain go brr, too!
